As an Operations Specialist in Animal Care, your role will be to ensure that proper animal care and husbandry is being provided for all companion animals and aquatic life in the Pet Care Center (PCC). You’ll be the primary resource regarding animal care and maintenance. This position will support the achievement of the PCC's budgeted sales and shrink goals. You’ll ensure our merchandising and inventory strategies are executed across the Pet Care Center with your primary focus in companion animals and aquatic life. You will ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Pet Care Center in close partnership with the sales team to meet the needs of the guest and their pet/s. You can excel in this role by exhibiting a passion for the welfare, health, and proper care of animals as well as being a positive partner within the whole Pet Care Center team. Position Responsibilities include ensuring all companion animals and aquatic life receive appropriate care, completing maintenance and health checks, processing register transactions, supporting guest interactions, stocking and merchandising, training and educating partners, promoting teamwork and safety, ordering supplies, analyzing inventory data, performing housekeeping tasks, handling relinquished and adoption animals, verifying maintenance tasks, participating in inventory counts, and adhering to safety and loss prevention procedures. Additional duties include utilizing selling behaviors to provide excellent guest experiences, contributing to a safe environment, fostering a collaborative culture, and engaging in career development programs. Basic qualifications require at least one year of experience with companion animals and aquatic life, knowledge of animal care, sales aptitude, good communication skills, and completion of the Petco Animal Care Certification program. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and proficiency in mathematics and communication. Supervisory responsibilities include opening and closing the Pet Care Center according to policies and promoting safety procedures. The work environment is mostly indoors with some physical activity and a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
