TruLegal's client, a top law firm known for its cutting-edge litigation practice, is seeking a seasoned Lead eDiscovery Attorney. In this strategic role, you’ll guide clients and litigation teams through the full lifecycle of eDiscovery, from information governance and preservation to trial support, while shaping best practices across high-impact matters. This senior leadership role owns the end-to-end entirety of the eDiscovery process firmwide. The position offers the opportunity to lead negotiations, oversee attorney teams, implement defensible workflows, and collaborate with cross-functional groups to integrate the latest in eDiscovery tools and technologies. Ideal candidates bring significant hands-on experience, deep technical fluency, a practical, risk-aware approach to complex discovery challenges, and executive presence to work with senior leadership. This position is hybrid, and open to locations where our client has an office.
Responsibilities:- Advises and supports clients and case teams through all phases of eDiscovery, including preservation, processing, review, and production
- Provides guidance on pre-litigation information governance, deposition/witness preparation, and trial support
- Leads negotiations on electronically stored information (ESI) protocols and related matters and prepares and argues eDiscovery related motions
- Collaborates with attorneys, paralegals, professional staff, and clients to develop and implement tailored eDiscovery best practices for specific matters, including workflows and protocols
- Advises clients on defensible data disposition, legal holds, and records retention policies, with an emphasis on practicality and risk management
- Oversees team of Litigation Staff Attorneys, including participation in staffing and training
- Oversees the quality and efficiency of work produced by junior attorneys, staff attorneys, contract attorneys, and service providers
- Ensures that eDiscovery workflows are focused on risk mitigation, cost control, and defensibility while identifying critical information necessary for case success
- Monitors and counsels stakeholders on developments and other changes to applicable eDiscovery rules and regulations
- Liaises with Practice Support and Knowledge & Innovation teams to deploy and troubleshoot eDiscovery technologies
- Partners with Attorney Training & Development team to develop training programs on document reviews and associated technologies
Qualifications:- J.D. from an accredited law school.
- Significant experience guiding and supporting clients and case teams through all phases of eDiscovery
- In-depth knowledge of eDiscovery laws, regulations and best practices
- Substantial experience with eDiscovery review platforms, ability to maximize efficiencies in those platforms, and adaptability to work with new platforms over time
- Ability to manage complex discovery workflows and deliver tailored, strategic eDiscovery advice
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to convey complex legal and technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and risk management
- Ability to proactively manage case team expectations, recognize needs and adapt plans accordingly
- Willingness to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
Expected salary for this role is $325,000 - $435,000 commensurate with experience, training, skills, qualifications, and other market factors.
