We are looking for an experienced Medical assistant to perform clinical duties as well as administrative duties. The Medical Assistant provides high quality, direct patient care in a team-based model to our BIDHC patients and supports smooth and efficient administrative and clinical practice operations. The Medical Assistant has the ability to work with people from different backgrounds and respects the beliefs of all patients and team members. Reports to the Practice Manager. Primary Responsibilities include performing administrative duties such as greeting patients, check-in, registration, scheduling, verification of demographic information, obtaining referrals, collecting co-pays, and monitoring patient flow. The role involves relationship development and care team coordination to contribute to patient care and organizational goals. Assisting patients during visits, communicating clearly with patients and team members, performing medical assisting duties like obtaining vital signs, EKGs, point of care testing, phlebotomy, administering immunizations, and assisting during procedures. Leading conversations to meet quality and population health goals through outreach and health coaching. Monitoring and maintaining medical equipment and supplies. Working within the electronic health record system to manage prescriptions, orders, and documentation. Scheduling diagnostic and lab tests, verifying insurance, and ensuring OSHA compliance and patient safety. Required qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, preferred certifications such as Medical Assistant Certificate, CNA, EMT Basic, or Phlebotomy Certificate, 0-1 years related work experience, demonstrated MA competencies, and basic computer skills. Preferred qualification is Certified Medical Assistant. Competencies include decision making, problem solving, independence, communication skills, knowledge, teamwork, and customer service. The job requires physical activity including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling with occasional heavy lifting and patient assistance. The organization requires all staff to be vaccinated against influenza and COVID-19 as a condition of employment.
