Job Description

The ideal candidate for the Pro Sports Outlook Research Analyst position is excellent at understanding sports facts, statistics, and bringing numbers to life. As a valuable member of the research department, the successful candidate for the Research Analyst position brings plenty of knowledge and skills to the table and knows the difference between ordinary stats from the facts and records fans want to know.

This is a great opportunity for individuals to advance their career in the sports industry as previous contributors have successfully landed positions at companies like NFL Films, NBC Sports, the Washington Nationals, University sports programs (Michigan, Georgia, JMU, etc.), Sports Betting platforms, radio stations, and more!

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the digital sports media industry and continuously consume sports content.
  • Research the resources given (Sports-reference, Stathead, Wikipedia, and PSOs facts database) to create insightful posts about significant players in the NFL, NBA, and/or MLB that includes exciting highlights to match the caption.
  • Conduct quality control and corrective actions to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Use constructive feedback to improve.
  • Must have the ability to devote anywhere from 1 to 2 hours a day to the role.
  • Flexible work schedule, perfect for a student. Work from anywhere you have a connection.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal/written communication skills with timely follow up.
  • Capability to achieve content accuracy in time-sensitive production situations.
  • Can thrive in a fast-paced environment that requires quick turnaround results.
  • Familiar with multiple forms of content distribution (web, mobile, Twitter, TV, etc.).
  • Experience using Stathead and/or Sports-References leaderboard databases.
  • Able to contribute 10+ hours/week.
  • Possession of or working toward a Bachelors Degree majoring in Statistics or a sports-related field.
  • Proven experience working for a sports organization and/or statistics, preferably in media.
  • Extreme knowledge of how sports data is used in media and for research purposes.
  • Good understanding of common computer & mobile applications (Email, Google Spreadsheets, Twitter, & YouTube).

Proficiency with:

  • Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • G Suite Applications (Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Hangouts, Drive, and Gmail).
