Position OverviewThis role provides vital support to faculty and staff by assisting with the organization, handling, and care of the physical collection including fibers, textiles, books, and ephemera, Additionally the role plays a critical role in preserving the integrity and enhancing the accessibility of these materials for teaching, research, and exhibition purposes.Job Description
60%- Textile Archive Support - Collaborate with faculty and staff to document, catalog, and properly store objects from the textile archive.
- Prepare textiles using appropriate archival materials and preservation methods.
- Enter detailed data and metadata into the collection database.
- Photograph objects for documentation and reference purposes.
30%- Book Cataloging and Organization - Catalog and input book titles using the Librarika application, including barcode scanning.
- Organize and maintain shelving of book titles to ensure easy access and accurate storage.
10%- General Maintenance and Support - Perform light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, and basic upkeep of the work area.
- Assist with general organization and inventory of supplies.
- Perform tasks that may involve bending, lifting, or moving materials as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a Federal Work Study Study as stated in application materials.
- An ideal candidate will have availability during the week days in June and July as indicated on application materials.
Position RequirementsDuring the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).Employment Conditions(1) Student employees are
not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
